IranOpen – Day 2

This morning we were the first team in the competion hall. We are still struggeling with the fact that schedules are rather soft than deterministic. The mesurement of the robots were set to 9 am and with only three hours delay it actually happened.

Before that we tried raisin and carrot jam for breakfast. We could not really taste a lot of difference. At breakfast here in iran it is primary very sweet-tasting.

We by the way are living in a hotel at the Olympic Academy of Iran. The national boxing team we could already see at training and Tamara as well as the other robots could already pull some olympic air through their fans, awaiting the day robotic soccer becomes a olympic discipline. We still don’t know when the games will be, but we keep you informed as soon as we know something.

While the organizers still working on the setup, we are continiously working on our robots. The vision works now even with the bad light conditions. How our robots will handle the uneven field we will see. The floor is made out of wood panels which bend when a person walks on them. With the referee walking all over the field during a game, that could be a real problem.

Additionally we had the chance to see all the other robots at the tournament and in the evening we will get the chance to visit Teheran, because the competition hall is closing at 6 pm.

We are still curious.

    1. I haven’t been there in 2014, but from my previous experience in Teheran I would assume it’s just the usual delay. The mentality of the people there is different, for them it’s not really important to be on time. Things happen eventually and thats just as well. So I don’t think there was any reason it was delayed.
